Making a Budget

So people have been asking How do you make a budget?
Well there is a lot of sites out there in cyberworld that can help you. The site I love and use is Gail Vaz-Oxlade, she has a lot of helpful information on her site.

Now as for budget worksheets Gail has a interactive budget worksheet that has the percentages of your income each part of you life should be like for example your housing should equal 35% of your income. It also shows you how much monthly you should take out to put in jars to live on, it also breaks it down for weekly. You don't have to use jars if you don't want to but it does help as you see what money you have and how much is left for each category. Some people find it more useful to use envelopes or just leaving it all together in one spot.

Now don't forget about the budget binder this is very helpful to see where your money is going, well it is if you remember to mark everything down. Keep all your receipts and mark it down in the binder as soon as you can and then put your receipt in the jar/envelope or where ever your spot may be. If you use all the money from one category, lets just say groceries, and you need more groceries, then you will have to take it out of another category like entertainment. And when the money is all gone then you are done spending for the month weather you like it or not lol.

Hope this helps everyone with there own budgets.

I Am Back

Well as you all can tell I have been MIA from the blogging world. Life has been super busy and stressful since September. But I am back and going to start fresh, with a new design and color for my blog that is.

I will still be blogging about budgeting and money saving ideas but I will also be changing some recipes up by making them healthier. I have changed my eating habits and started to exercise. I am enjoying this new part of my life and yes it has been a struggle at time but isn't everything.

I have not been doing great with budgeting over the past while and it is time to get my but in gear and do it. I have made a budget out and for my spending it is going to be $240 a week. This is my starting point and we will see how it goes from here, i may have to lower it. Well after i redo the new budget tomorrow these numbers may change. I will also see if i can add in some fun money for hubby and I or shall i say kinda a allowance for us and the kids.

My weekly budget will go as follows:

  • $120 for groceries
  • $60 for gas, vehicle/transportation
  • $20 for entertainment
  • $20 for clothing and gift
  • $20 for other, including dental etc.
