Honey Garlic Chicken

This is very yummy and was a hit with all 4 of my kids.( i forgot to add the pinneapple in at the end but still had the juice from them)

10to 12 boneless & skinless chicken thighs, or 6 chicken breasts with bone in but skinless

1 20-oz can pineapple tidbits
3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
3 Tbsp ketchup
3 to 4 gloves crushed garlic

Put chicken in slow cooker. Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Mix pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey, ketchup and garlic in bowl. Pour over chicken.

Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Stir in pineapple tidbits before serving. For the bone in i cooked it on high for 5 hours so low would be 7 to 8

There is a lot of sauce left over to if you wanted you could probably up your chicken pieces a bit( 1 to 2 more should be fine)

Cheap Reads

Well i decided to finnally go to our local public library and renew are membership. It was actually very cheap $1 for the 3 school aged children and Free for the preschooler and me it was only $7.50 a very good deal considering that you can;t buy a new book for that lol.
The kids had fun checking the new library out and getting a couple books to read. My preschooler i think had the most fun. He was adventureous, well in my eyes maybe not the libraries eyes lol. He thought it would be fun to shut off the computers and the check out computers lol, thank god it wasn;t to big of a deal and they got turned back on.
So if you are looking for something to do with your children and that is cheap you should check out your local public library. Ours had DVD's to rent( heck cheaper then going to blockbuster) and they also have toys that you can take out also. There is different activities going through out the year as well, i am thinking of taking my Preschooler to the reading and play times, it lets him be ative and not just be around mommy all day.

Free is Always Best

Today in the mail I got the Wal-Mart flyer and on the front cover they had Pop tarts 1.2 KG $1.88 well I thought maybe it was a misprint lol.
I was out of diaper wipes and needed some so i had hubbie go there so i thought what the heck i will have him pick up a pack of the pop tarts. So hubbie picked up some Pampers wipes $3.47-$1 coupon= $2.47 then made his way to grab the pop tarts. I called him and told him to watch the price as they do SCOP( scanning code of practice) and if the price comes up wrong that we will get it free.

Well low and behold it came up regular price $7.97 well hubbie asked if they do SCOP and they did so we got them free. What a awsome deal, wellit was awsome to begin with but free it better lol.

50's Primetime Meatloaf(WDW)

I am a disneyfanatic, I love all things disney. I got even more hooked when i finnally saved enough money for us to take a trip there in April of 2009. This was our very first real family vacation since we had been married at that was 12 years, crazy I know. We went to Disneyland but since i love all things disney lol, i came across the allears.net website and it has wonderful recipies on there so i thought i would give one a try.

It was so easy to make and so good, i actually made it into 2 loaf pans and used half of the sauce for the one(other half is froze) i cooked both and froze 1. The sauce can be all used on 1 if you like it with lots, and the shocker 3 out of 4 ofmy kids liked it so it is a winner in my books.
her is the webiste: http://allears.net/din/recipes/rec_50ml.htm
Here is the recipie:

INGREDIENTS:

2 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
4 eggs
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
½ cup diced onions
1/4 cup diced green peppers
1/4 cup diced red peppers
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
Cracked black pepper to taste
Kosher salt to taste
½ cup Meatloaf Glaze (recipe below)

METHOD:

Dice peppers and onions and set aside for later use. Combine meats and seasonings. Add vegetables. Place meat mixture in oiled loaf pan. Bake at 350º F oven for 1 hour (internal temp 155º).

Brush meatloaf with meatloaf glaze. Bake another 10 minutes. Let meatloaf set 10 minutes, cut loaf and serve.

MEATLOAF GLAZE
INGREDIENTS:

½ cup ketchup
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tsp Dijon mustard
½ Tsp worcestershire sauce

METHOD:

Combine all ingredients until mixture is smooth.

Recall

I got a wonderful prerecorded message today. It was concering the wonderful chips we picked up from costco yesterday, they are being voluntary recalled.

The chips are the sweet maui onion kettle chips. The message said to bring them in for a full refund, so that is where we are headed tomorrow. Just think this will be money in our pockets lol.

No seriously i think that it is good that i actually got the prerecorded message. i know that if it was from another store that never had a membership card they would have no way of knowing who bought these.

Another good thing is that we only ate very little so i think we are okay

Its always something

Well today my daughter came home from school telling me that she needed a new pair as hers are wrecked. Not to big of a deal as long as we can find a pair for under $12 i told her so of we went to Walmart. I was thinking wow i hope she isn;t fussy tonight and i sure hope that they have a good selection of shoes. So we entered the store and made our way to the shoes. We started walking down the isle and she started ooh i like the Hannah Montana pair($22) and the Jonas Brothers pair($21) i turned my head and looked on to find a cheaper pair.
I found a pair of just walmart brand of shoes and they were regular $8 and not on sale so i had her try them on and well they were just okay mom i heard lol, so i kept on my trek. I came across a end cap of clearance shoes, now i thought we hit the jackpot.
I found a pair of shoes that i thought were so cute and was hoping that she would also agree, she did, yay 1 for me so we tried them on and they fit and she said she wanted them, yay 2 for me lol. I looked at the brand and they were BUM brand, i love this brand of shoes and they seem to hold up. So then i looked at the price tag regular $20 marked down to ..........................................................
$5 yes $5 i was shocked. yay 3 for me lol it was a good shopping experience. Then we proceded and picked a couple loafs of bread $1.48 each cheaper then costco( that is where we are headed next) so the tola damage at walmart was $8.21.

We were on our way to costco, made it in the nick of time as they close at 8:30 lol.
I can out of there with only 2 items i was so in shock as that has never happened before my damage at costco was $10.25, $4.19 for 4L milk, and $5.49 for a big bag of chips( our munchies for the week.

Then i was informed by my oldest and my daughter that there school pizza coupons were about to expire. So we made our way to pizza hut so they could redeem there pizza coupons for a personal pizza, free is always nice. It will be there lunch tomorrow.
Well my other school aged son was so upset last month when the other 2 got free pizza, see the school teachers have the option weather to participate in this or not and his teacher doesn't, i don;t think this is right but hey i don;t have a say in it. So I made a deal at the beginning of February that if he reads 4 days every week that i will buy him a personal pizza the same time( see he doesnt care for reading, bribery lol) So pizza hut damage was $3.66, not to bad.

Well now we had to make our way to Safeway to finish our grocery shopping, if you remember yesterday hubbie got called into work in the middle of our shopping adventure. This is what i bought, i will include regular prices so you can see how much the savings really are.
3-2L dr.pepper reg.$5.97 paid $5, $0.75 for deposit and $0.18 for recyling levi
2- mountain breeze $2.00, $0.25 deposit and 0.06 levi
marchmallows 400g 2.38
Royal bath tissue 24 roll reg $11.99 on sale $5.99 and $1 coupns so $4.99
585g of ground pork $4.50
1.275kg of bananas $2.19
1.88 jumbo cantalope regular $4.10 on sale for $2.03
head of cauliflower reg $3.95 on sale for $2.31
Total was $29.09
Not to bad as i saved $11.68

Pinnapple Chicken in slow cooker

I thought i would share this recipie with all of you. It is very easy and you can switch it up to meet your family needs.
1 1/2lbs to 2lbs of skinless chicken thighs( i buy with skin on and just deskin myself)
3/4 to 1lb of carrots sliced
1 pepper sliced in strips i used yellow but sometimes use red
1 jar of vh pinneapple sauce( i used NN from superstore, you can also use sweet n sour
-place chicken in slow cooker and add all the rest of ingredients on top cover and let cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. depends on size of your chicken9 sometimes it may need a bit less time). I usually cook it till it is almost falling off the bone.
I usally serve over rice.
I make sure that my chicken is fully unthawed for this recipie.
Enjoy
